Our history is deeply linked to the political, commercial and emotional memory of the country. It is not an exaggeration to say that the high appreciation and commercial boom of the Bocagrande area at that time was closely related to the opening of Capilla del Mar, on October 12, 1976.


It is quite a fantasy to imagine the kings of Spain, arriving on a plane to Barranquilla 30 years ago, to take a helicopter that would leave them in the La Boquilla sector, where they would board the flagship of the Spanish Navy, which would be escorted by several units of Spanish and Colombian warships, in a great unprecedented parade, which toured the bay of the city and landed in Bocagrande, between whistles and sirens with the background sound of the roar of 21 cannon shots that honored the illustrious visitors.


A royal delegation of 134 people, great Colombian personalities led by President Alfonso López Michelsen, and 80 journalists from around the world were waiting for them at the dock, who broadcast the biggest event of the time in 28 languages.
